It’s all good so far. 1/2/14

Just warming up the brain cells and getting re-engaged in the day to day. The holiday was a nice break such as it was.

Since the business runs 24/7/365, there are always incidents and issues that occur without respect to calendar or clock and must get handled. However, I was able to take some time away from the office and the home office.

With the free time we did some home organization. I also made some additional squirrel proofing measures which has caused some consternation among the population of tree rats that view my attic as theirs. We have one squirrel that keeps looking in the sliding glass doors and thinking that the den would be a nice place to spend the winter now that the attic is closed.

They have also tried getting back into the attic through the garage. They definitely don’t like getting locked in the garage.

Last night I went to move my car in. I heard something rattling around the work bench. I yelled get out, which definitely put the tree rat in fight and flight mode. I watched him jump off the work bench, bounce off the top of the wife’s car and then sail right at me where he used my head as a launch pad out of the garage. I still have a vivid image of him sailing at me. We will maintain better discipline about keeping the garage door closed.

It is time to sight in the pellet pistol and see if I can convince these rodents to move elsewhere. I wonder if hanging a few pelts on the side of the house would influence them to stay at the neighbor’s house.
