It’s all good so far. 2/19/13

February 19, 2013

Today is a day to practice patience. I have my second cup of coffee in hand and have just wished a happy 53rd birthday to my brother’s voicemail. Coffee and birthday greetings do not tax my patience, it is the other events on the horizon. I am in hurry up and wait mode for:

1. Waiting on my insurance policy to be fulling in force while dealing with COBRA and the Insurance folks. Escalated Carrier Update is defined differently in my world where follow through is expected. This time I did get to a manager at the COBRA and she put the escalation request through and I have a reference number. I did mention that I made the request last week and I asked her to review the case notes.

2. Waiting on the delivery and installation of the dishwasher. The oldest appliance in our house was in terminal condition and had reached the repair being greater than half the cost of new, so we bought the first new dishwasher in 18 plus years. Now the two hour installation window that the salesman told us about has expanded to a four hour window in the middle of the day.

3. Waiting on word from the banker on the closing date to refinance the house. All the paperwork is finally in order and we should be able to complete this transaction. This is the second refinance we have done and after 19 years in the house and having a loan value of approximately half the appraised value, you would think it would go smoothly.

4. Waiting on any feedback on the dozen or so resume’s out. I can see that there has been some followup on Linked In where the prospective employer has looked at my profile. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

In the mean time, I have my coffee, I have my data entry to finish, and a sense of peace. I know things are working out they way they need to.

The One Platform Experiment 10-05-11

October 5, 2011

The experiment –  to capture my thoughts (for what they are worth) once in a single location, and after editing distribute through various social platforms.

My challenges: Since my writing is done in the morning I have to deal  with early morning clarity of thought.  I also have a concern about the time spent editing, adding links and the learning curve with the various platform features.   But if I don’t write in the morning, when will I have time?  Work is work, evenings are supposed to be for exercise, time with family, and projects. We will see how it goes.

10/01/2011 It’s All Good So Far

October 1, 2011

I have been writing an unpublished version of the Blog – under the title “It’s All Good So Far” in a Simple Note/Elements Text File format.  Posting only to a closed cloud repository.  However, listening to a Minimal Mac podcast yesterday http://minimalmac.com/enough on taking a sabbatical from social networking, the topic was raised about doing more within a private RSS feed.  The idea was to be able to capture thoughts (tweets, posts, other feeds, etc.) in a single area that might be free of advertising and monitoring.    I am not sure if I will go back and capture the thoughts that I have only saved as text files, but I am going to try to do this going forward.

I am not sure what I will capture.

  • Will I get back to the Daily Examen?
I would like to make time for this, it has been a major lapse.
  • Will I try to hold myself accountable by posting more diet & exercise entries?
     I hope so.
  • Will it degenerate into rants?
On occasion, but I am trying to be a better person and will work on self limiting the snark.

I hope to capture the lessons learned as they occur, and to remember all the blessing I have been given.  All in all, it has been all good so far.
