It’s all good so far. 1/20/13

January 20, 2013

No entry yesterday. Up early and away to a Scout Meeting in Austin. Six hours of travel and seven hours of meeting. I do feel better about the service project that we are getting into. I am not sure that I was successful in getting balance. I did get some things delegated but it looks like I picked up a Saturday of work in exchange.

The cold seems better. I still get drowsy in the afternoons and sleep comes in short deep bursts, split with moments of conscious viewing of the alarm clock. I feel that it has been good rest, the trick will be getting a solid 8 hours in. Definitively will have to vary the routine.

Enjoyed breakfast and the paper with Sandra. Off then for some grocery shopping. Working on the diet. More soups and fruits instead of snacking on cheesecake crackers. With a thirteen hour meeting yesterday – there was not much opportunity for exercise. I will have to put a break into the data entry’s this afternoon and get a good walk in.

Time to set the distractions aside and jump into the accounting entry.

I have noticed that when I open my iPad, the screen orientation never seems to be in the direction I need it. I spend a moment to get re-oriented before if move forward with whatever I had planned.

While I can look at this as beginning a minor annoyance, I also have consider that one of the things we are pushing out in our safety launch is where one stops, thinks about what is important to them and then reexamines the situation to see if one an proceed safely.

Perhaps I should view the moment it takes to reorient my screen as an opportunity for another quick review of what is important and perhaps to reorient myself as well before proceeding.

Well we did get through the fog of the cough suppression medicine but at the cost of productivity yesterday. Several moments when I was scripting that I realized that I was about to nod off.

I hope that there was at least some clarity in the training script. I had finished my first draft of the module and the boss could not wait to get a copy in her hands to review. We will see what she thinks and adapt to the sea changes she makes.

I did manage to get a good workout done yesterday and the shoulders are still reminding me about it. I did not try any accounting last night rather I went into zombie mode and was asleep by 9:30. It was a night of short deep naps. I remember waking and seeing the clock several time but each time I felt that I had been in a restful state.

Another day started. Caffeine ingested, Outlook perused , and not any major fires to fight. Looks like I can focus on couple of the tasks at hand today. It’s going to be a good day.

Looking for hump day creativity, fueled by gruel, cough suppressant and caffeine. The calendar is filling with meetings and I need to be sure I don’t double-book or over-commit.

We are in the first stags of implementing a large change in procedure at work. Moving from being the behind the scenes we will get it done for you to active engagement. Making others as aware of their stewardship responsibility. Unlike the voluntary and spiritual stewardship at the Church, our Environmental stewardship requires mandatory participation.

It is challenging to have to maintain focused creativity. We are currently working on scripts for training. It is similar to the preparation of training materials that I do in Scouting, but the effort extends over a much longer period of time.

And throughout I also need to carve out time for focused physical stewardship. Gruel, salad, and the treadmill are the foundation. I even managed to get short session in yesterday between work and the commute home and still made the conference call.

So this morning I have had my gruel, and my first of many cups of coffee, and I have almost completed the inbox read and respond. A full day of scripting a training program awaits. It’s onward through the fog.
