Friday, the car is loaded and after I get some accounting work done I will head to camp. It has been a productive day. We were able to get the insurance folks worked out and now I have claims headed their way. We were also able to get the in-law move date coordinated so things are going well.

This is the first service weekend of the year for our SHAC Corps program. Last year this weekend rained out, then we rescheduled and worked in the rain. The forecast is more favorable for this weekend. A lot of work to get done and 77 bodies committed to doing it.

I will carry the box of gloves that has been sitting in my garage since ArrowCorps 5 and pass them out to the participants. That should be a winner.

I did notice when loading up that I no longer have a laptop at my disposal. I am used having one all the time but now for the first time I realize that although I own three of them, they are all at college. I may have to remedy this when I return to work. Until then I will see what I can do on the iPad.

A gray rainy Thursday morning, definitely a Houston February. Thinking about the things I need to when I retreat to the office.

There is one opening that I have seen that I will respond to. Even though the new search agents are so much better than waiting until the afternoon paper made its appearance with the help wanted ads, there are days when there are no openings that I find interesting.

I am at that point that I have some time to wait and be sure that I am pursuing the right career options. I have enough reserve set aside to do this waiting game. However, there are costs.

The refinancing drug along to the point that the bank managed to confirm the layoff so we cancelled the refinancing. I made the application in November while employed. It seems that even with a 19 year history of making payments, and having enough capital from my 401k to pay the balance off, I am eligible to reset the loan. The whole goal of the project was to reduce the term and keep the same payment. It was not a first, second, or third order derivative to be covered by the taxpayers. I probably even could qualify under the partnership income but we need to get data to taxman first.

So we will continue to make the same payment on the house. We will continue to reduce the loan balance and continue to make improvements which will increase the value.

I wasn’t sure if I was a going to get a post in today. It has been busy. We were able to get a lot of furniture out of the in-laws house and on to her care giver. Still some work to do.

I also spent some quality time doing tech support only to have the installation fail repeatedly. It was not a good day on the IT front. We did get the 401k rolled order into a self directed account so I can do trades and see if I can lose money on this side as well as I do on the other IRA at has a Couch Potato split. This one is in Exxon, Amazon, Whole Foods and Apple.

But now it is date night with the sweet wife. Off to dinner.

Today is a day to practice patience. I have my second cup of coffee in hand and have just wished a happy 53rd birthday to my brother’s voicemail. Coffee and birthday greetings do not tax my patience, it is the other events on the horizon. I am in hurry up and wait mode for:

1. Waiting on my insurance policy to be fulling in force while dealing with COBRA and the Insurance folks. Escalated Carrier Update is defined differently in my world where follow through is expected. This time I did get to a manager at the COBRA and she put the escalation request through and I have a reference number. I did mention that I made the request last week and I asked her to review the case notes.

2. Waiting on the delivery and installation of the dishwasher. The oldest appliance in our house was in terminal condition and had reached the repair being greater than half the cost of new, so we bought the first new dishwasher in 18 plus years. Now the two hour installation window that the salesman told us about has expanded to a four hour window in the middle of the day.

3. Waiting on word from the banker on the closing date to refinance the house. All the paperwork is finally in order and we should be able to complete this transaction. This is the second refinance we have done and after 19 years in the house and having a loan value of approximately half the appraised value, you would think it would go smoothly.

4. Waiting on any feedback on the dozen or so resume’s out. I can see that there has been some followup on Linked In where the prospective employer has looked at my profile. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

In the mean time, I have my coffee, I have my data entry to finish, and a sense of peace. I know things are working out they way they need to.
