Well we did get through the fog of the cough suppression medicine but at the cost of productivity yesterday. Several moments when I was scripting that I realized that I was about to nod off.

I hope that there was at least some clarity in the training script. I had finished my first draft of the module and the boss could not wait to get a copy in her hands to review. We will see what she thinks and adapt to the sea changes she makes.

I did manage to get a good workout done yesterday and the shoulders are still reminding me about it. I did not try any accounting last night rather I went into zombie mode and was asleep by 9:30. It was a night of short deep naps. I remember waking and seeing the clock several time but each time I felt that I had been in a restful state.

Another day started. Caffeine ingested, Outlook perused , and not any major fires to fight. Looks like I can focus on couple of the tasks at hand today. It’s going to be a good day.

Looking for hump day creativity, fueled by gruel, cough suppressant and caffeine. The calendar is filling with meetings and I need to be sure I don’t double-book or over-commit.

We are in the first stags of implementing a large change in procedure at work. Moving from being the behind the scenes we will get it done for you to active engagement. Making others as aware of their stewardship responsibility. Unlike the voluntary and spiritual stewardship at the Church, our Environmental stewardship requires mandatory participation.

It is challenging to have to maintain focused creativity. We are currently working on scripts for training. It is similar to the preparation of training materials that I do in Scouting, but the effort extends over a much longer period of time.

And throughout I also need to carve out time for focused physical stewardship. Gruel, salad, and the treadmill are the foundation. I even managed to get short session in yesterday between work and the commute home and still made the conference call.

So this morning I have had my gruel, and my first of many cups of coffee, and I have almost completed the inbox read and respond. A full day of scripting a training program awaits. It’s onward through the fog.

It seems this is time is geared for reflection. In the past few days I have been to the Cardiologist for the first checkup of the year and have received diet and exercise instructions. I have updated my accounting software and have been working through reconciliation issues. At work the 2013 plan has been rolled out. We are also working on our employee evaluations and I have been asked to submit a volunteer resume to a friend of mine.

With all this inspection and introspection, I can appreciate the Post Christmas theme of the “Pray as you go” podcast on living simply.

This year’s goals will take active effort to achieve. There are challenges to meet. There will have to be time for diet and exercise so I can continue to rise to the challenge. There will have to be time for reflection. There will be a more deliberate focus on what I am doing. Focused servant leadership. Balanced budgets and work life balance.

It is going to be a busy week. With Emily back at school we can begin to get our routines normalized. It is the first week of ordinary time. I need to be sure that I make ordinary time for diet and exercise, for writing, for the family business, and the business of being a family.
